independence movement in the Jeam Church and burning the place down and indiscriminately massacring villagers and burning 30 houses. A monument erected on the site of Jeam Church in 1959, 3.1 Independence Movement Martyr Monument reconstructed in 1982, 3.1 Independence Movement Memorial Hall constructed in Mar 2000 as a result of a long-cherished desire from the descendents in Hwaseong regions to succeed the patriotism and to pay tributes to the martyrs who were massacred while trying to recover the lost country. The tombs of 23 martyrs who died during the Jeam Ri 3.1 Independence Movement
This tomb was made after the remains of 23 skeletons were found from Doiri Public Cemetery based on the testimonies from Mrs. Jeon Dongrye and Mr. Choi Eungshik who were the survivors of the independence movement and the Ministry of Culture and Public Administration relocated their remaining to the back of the Jeam Church in 1982 where it’s sunny and subsequently soothed their souls.
Every March 1 at 2pm, a memorial service is held at Jeam Ri Memorial Square to remember those who cherished their lives during the 3.1 Independence Movement, a Memorial Education Hall was constructed and displays the historical remains to remind us of the terrible crisis and used for educational purposes.
